The Topographic Drama tour and new album can be seen as interesting career bookends for longtime drummer Alan White in Yes
Detail images and behind the scenes portraits of Yes’ awesome crew, mountains of gear and tech were the perfect subjects for a “photo journalistic approach” to making photos with the Leica M. Most shots used the incomparable 50mm Summilux aspherical lens (a rental for us, owing to price — but wow, what an optic!)
For these shots of drummer Dylan Howe, made along the 2017 Yes tour of America, we wanted to use a classic, manual focus rangefinder camera and get up close and personal, like in the great Blue Note jazz cover photos (and designs) we love so much. The innovative use of video screens and stage lighting made for some exciting photographic opportunities for us. This shot captures the band's epic performance of music from Tales From Topographic Oceans.
